Thanks to Strictly Kev, I’m now the proud owner of “Our Universe” by Roy A. Gallant. Published in 1980 by National Geographic the book is a kind of accompaniment to the Our Universe kit that I posted up a while back. The book itself features a plethora of Space related fun including chapters on each of the (known) planets in our solar system, and a lovely section on “Shuttles & Starships.
Great video from 1988 by design collective Tomato. This is probably the only video I’ve seen that truly captures the infamous London Underground tube parties that were happening in the late 80s/early 90s. This one features the Bash Street Crew and a few guest appearances by the WD graff crew I think. (I was a young writer at the time so these parties hold special memories or me!).
+ From their website this looks like it was one of the first jobs for Tomato?
Last night I dropped by the launch party for new creative mag Inspired Flight. They are calling it a Trizine™ as the content is spread between the web, a printed mag and a DVD. It’s a nice mag, made by nice people – check it if you come accross a copy (the first issue has a great feature on Flying Lotus).
I recently picked up this lovely kids book by Alain Grée. Published in 1963, “La Mer” forms part of a beautiful series of Grée books published by Casterman in France between 1962 – 1983. All feature beautiful illustrations throughout, slightly reminicent of Charlie Harper at times, but with a distinctive French twist – just the way we like it!
We finally completed the artwork for the new Emperor Machine album “Space Beyond The Egg”! Released on CD and vinyl by DC Recordings on June 1st. It’s another masterpiece from the Emperor and it was a complete honour for us to design the sleeve – we are not worthy…
Few more pix of the album and CD booklet after the jump.
As part of our work on the new Emperor Machine album, we’ve created this custom, 3D condenesed version of Univers, called “Emperor’s Univers”. The font appears on the album, the singles and makes a special guest appearence in the new EM video.
One last small job from Cannes. Here are two typographic invites we’ve designed for the official party and dinner to celebrate the premiere of the new Gaspar Noé movie “Enter The Void”. We previously worked with Gaspar on a few bits for his last feature “Irreversible” and we’re really looking forward to seeing this new one! By all accounts so far it’s pretty amazing – Gutted I won’t be in Cannes tonight to see this!!
